Mallory McManus
I grew up an hour east of Vancouver and never really left. I started photographing weddings in my early twenties with one camera and far too much confidence, and fifteen years later I am still doing it — with better gear, quieter instincts, and a much clearer sense of what actually matters in a photograph.
How I work
I do not run weddings on a shot list. I watch, I anticipate, and I stay out of the way until being in the way is useful. When people need direction I give it clearly and briefly, then let the moment go back to being theirs. The result is a gallery that reads like a day rather than a catalogue.
